This image started life as a portrait of a tree. I love trees — they are, hands down, my favourite things to draw. I like this tree a lot and it say idle on my computer for a couple of years while I tried to figure out what to do with it. In the end inspiration took me to this weird/dreamy place. I like to think the image hints at magic and mystery and fantasy. Perhaps it also hints and conjuring. And maybe even worship. Who can tell what I was thinking? Not me, that’s for sure!
